Cystogram

x-ray

A cystourethrogram and double contrast cystogram were performed. There is narrowing of the urethra at the base of the os penis. There are multiple filling defects representing calculi in the contrast pool in the bladder. The bladder wall is mildly thickened.

Cystic calculi and probable urethral stricture.

Case Discussion

A urethroscopy was performed and the instrument could not pass the strictured region. The calculi were removed surgically and determined to be urate. There was no evidence of portosystemic shunt, which is often a cause of urate calculi. Hyperuricosuria was diagnosed, which can be a genetic condition.
