Renal lymphoma

The left kidney is markedly enlarged, but retains a smoothly margined outline. There is a small rounded opacity superimposed on the kidney on the ventrodorsal projection, which likely represents superimposition of a nipple. There is wispy soft tissue opacity throughout the retroperitoneal space. A small, rounded, ill-defined, soft tissue opacity, measuring approximately 2.1 cm in length is seen caudal to the kidney and dorsal to the descending colon, on both lateral projections. The enlarged left kidney causes a mass effect with ventral and rightward displacement of the small and large intestines. The right kidney is not visualized, consistent with a previous history of nephrectomy. There is a large amount of intraluminal gas throughout the displaced small intestinal loops.

The left kidney is markedly enlarged, measuring 7.2 x 5.2 cm. It is diffusely hyperechoic with mildly decreased corticomedullary distinction and mild pyelectasia with a thin rim of hypoechoic surrounding fluid.

The right kidney is absent. The left kidney is markedly enlarged, with a weight of 156.6 g (3% body weight) and measuring 8.2 x 5.8 c 4.8 cm. The capsular surface subjectively has increased vascularity, and the capsule is subjectively thickened. On cut surface, the cortex is diffusely pale yellow and firm, with an undulating, well-defined cortico-medullary margin and the cortex measuring 2.2 cm at its widest point. The medulla is firm, pale pink, and measures 2 cm at the widest point.
