Thorax

x-ray

There is a soft tissue opacity mass in the dorsal thorax, localized to the dorsal portion of the left caudal lung lobe on the dorsoventral and ventrodorsal projections, very close to the hilus. The remainder of the pulmonary parenchyma is normal. The solitary pulmonary mass is most consistent with a primary pulmonary neoplasia such as adenocarcinoma, carcinoma, or less likely histiocytic sarcoma.

Thorax

ct

On CT images, the mass is confirmed to be in the cranial portion of the left caudal lung lobe. The main stem bronchus has a protrusion of tumor into its lumen. The mass is poorly contrast enhancing.

Case Discussion

The mass was diagnosed as papillary adenocarcinoma of the left cranial lung lobe with bronchial invasion after lobectomy and histopathology. The mass was invading the mainstem bronchi and bronchioles.
