Presentation

Splenic mass identified on physical examination. Screening thoracic radiographs for metastasis.

Patient Data

Age: 6 years
Gender: Castrated male
Category: Domestic dog
Organism: Samoyed dog

Thoracic radiographs

x-ray

The cardiovascular structures are normal in size and shape. No abnormalities are seen within the pulmonary parenchyma. The mediastinum and pleural space are normal. No abnormalities are seen in the musculoskeletal system. There are mineral and soft tissue opacities within the stomach.

Case Discussion

Normal thorax. Possible gastric foreign material.

A splenectomy was performed, and the mass was found to be benign. Gastric foreign material was palpated at surgery, and a piece of plastic and other material was removed via gastrostomy.
