Presentation

Symptoms of flattened stools. Rectal palpation revealed a rectal mass, diagnosed as leiomyosarcoma via colonoscopic biopsy. Screening thoracic radiographs for metastasis.

Age: 8 years
Gender: Spayed female
Category: Domestic dog
Organism: Golden retriever

The cardiovascular structures are normal in size and shape. No abnormalities are seen within the pulmonary parenchyma. The mediastinum and pleural space are normal. No abnormalities are seen in the musculoskeletal system.

Case Discussion

Normal thorax without evidence of metastatic disease.

Note that the collar was not removed from the dog's neck, and the metallic components are visible on the right lateral projection.
