  • Blunted fracture margins with surrounding sclerosis and moderate new bone production

Chronic fracture with hypertrophic non-union.

Case Discussion

This fracture was not treated in this rescue animal. As a result of motion, the fracture callus was not able to bridge the fragments and provide stability. There is evidence of bone activity with the rounded new bone at the fracture margins, but the rounded shape is a result of motion. The fracture was repaired with internal fixation.
