The heart is enlarged with a tall shape on the lateral projection and biatrial enlargement on the ventrodorsal projection. The pulmonary vasculature is enlarged. There is a diffuse, patchy alveolar pattern in the lungs.There is retraction of the lung lobes and pleural fissure lines indicating pleural effusion. The thorax is hyperinflated with flattening of the diaphragm. The portion of the abdomen included appears normal.
Case Discussion
These findings are consistent with left heart failure. An echocardiogram was not performed to further characterize the heart disease.
