Case Discussion

Animals diarrhea often have gastroenterocolitis from infectious cause (parvovirus, other viruses, bacteria) or dietary indiscretion. An empty gastrointestinal tract indicates increased motility and transit time as well as anorexia. The empty appearance removes any concern for mechanical obstruction in dogs that also have vomiting.
