Presentation

Got into trash several days ago and has been vomiting.

Patient Data

Age: 15 years
Gender: Spayed female
Category: Domestic dog
Organism: Samoyed dog

Abdomen

x-ray

The liver is enlarged with rounded borders. The stomach is moderately enlarged and filled with reticular soft tissue and gas opacity material. There is a round, mineralized structure ventral to and to the left of the second lumbar vertebra. The urinary tract and small intestine appear normal.

Gastric foreign body. Possible left adrenal mass or renal mineralization. Hepatomegaly.

Case Discussion

  • Tampons and plastic were removed via gastrotomy.

  • Left adrenal mass was diagnosed on ultrasound examination.

  • Liver biopsy revealed vacuolar degeneration consistent with steroid hepatopathy.
