Diagnosis certain

Patient Data

Age: 9 years
Gender: Spayed female
Category: Domestic dog
Organism: West Highland white terrier

Carpi

x-ray

There is lysis of the subchondral bone of all proximal metacarpal bones, as well as the intermedioradial and second carpal bones. The third carpal bone is subluxated dorsally in both carpi. There is soft tissue surrounding the carpus, and the carpal valgus is evident. The subluxation and angular deformity suggest instability of the joints. There are osteophytes on the dorsal aspect of both accessory carpal bones.

Case Discussion

Erosive polyarthritis. The synovial fluid showed purulent polyarthritis with 45-69% neutrophils and no organisms. The collapse of the joints is resulting in the angular limb deformity.
