Case contributed by Allison L Zwingenberger
Diagnosis certain

Presentation

Presents with lameness in the thoracic limbs. The lameness has been present since adopted, and worsens with exercise.

Patient Data

Age: 1 year
Gender: Castrated male
Category: Domestic dog
Organism: American pit bull terrier

Thoracic limb

x-ray

There is marked elbow incongruity with widening of the humeroradial joint. The trochlear groove of the ulna is shallow. There is osteophytosis of the anconeal process and on the medial ulna.

Impression:

Marked elbow incongruity with probable medial coronoid process disease and osteoarthrosis. The short radius may be due to previous trauma and early closure of the distal physis, or be developmental.

Case Discussion

Arthroscopy was performed and a subtotal coronoidectomy was performed. An ulnar ostectomy was performed to reduce the degree of elbow incongruity.
