Case Discussion

Constipation may be due to colonic dysmotility or mechanical obstruction such as a stricture. Splenomegaly may be due to sedation or hyperplasia. Hepatomegaly may be inflammatory, metabolic, degenerative, or congestion. Neoplasia is unlikely. Mild chronic renal change.

No mural abnormalities were seen on ultrasound. The cat was treated with fluid therapy and enemas to resolve the constipation. He was treated at home with lactulose to prevent further constipation.
