Presentation
Presented with a 6-month history of tenesmus. Had produced no normal feces, only diarrhea. Previous abdominal ultrasound showed no masses.
Patient Data
Multiple portions of the colon have a spastic appearance. There is dense fecal material within
the distal descending colon near the pelvic inlet. The liver is mildly enlarged. A hypoplastic rib
is present at the left 13th thoracic vertebra.
Case Discussion
A colonoscopy was performed and a rectal stricture was identified. There was colitis present which likely initiated the straining and led to stricture formation. Colonic undulation and spasm may be associated with hypermotility in acute and chronic cases.
