Thorax

x-ray

There is increased opacity at the heart base with deviation of the principal bronchi, representing enlarged hilar lymph nodes. There is a mild bronchial pattern with several doughnuts visible and thickened bronchial walls in the periphery.

Free gas is visible within the abdomen due to recent surgery.

2-month recheck

x-ray

On recheck radiographs, the hilar lymphadenopathy has resolved. The bronchial pattern is also improved.

Case Discussion

On bloodwork there was neutrophilia. Infectious respiratory disease was suspected, and titers were run for coccidiodomycosis, aspergillus, and cryptococcus. The coccidioidal titers were positive. The dog was treated with itraconozole and the hilar lymphadenopathy improved over two months.
