Presentation
Presents with an acute episode of coughing.
Patient Data
There is consolidation of the right middle, right caudal, and accessory lung lobes. The bronchus to the right middle and right caudal lung lobes tapers abruptly. There is a small amount of pleural effusion. The right caudal bronchus is not well identified, particularly on the VD projection.
Within the abdomen, there is a soft tissue mass at the greater curvature of the stomach, visible on all three projections. The mass is outlined by air within the gastric lumen.
The right middle lung lobe has been infiltrated by a tan mass (top of image). The right caudal and accessory lung lobes are collapsed. There is a blood clot adherent to the lung that was present in the pleural space.
Case Discussion
Pulmonary neoplasia with bronchial obstruction and atelectasis. This may be primary pulmonary neoplasia or metastatic neoplasia. Gastric mass may be lymphoma or carcinoma.
On necropsy, there was gastric and jejunal adenocarcinoma with metastatic spread to the lung.
