Moderation

Last revised by Mike French on 24 May 2025

After you submit your case as either public or unlisted it is sent to the editors for moderation. Moderation involves assessing for:

  • adequate image quality

  • appropriateness of the diagnostic certainty

  • appropriate spelling, grammar and adherence to the style guide

  • patient confidentiality and plagiarism

Unlisted cases are typically only moderated for patient confidentiality, these cases do not need to follow the style guide.

If the case (either public or unlisted) falls short of Vetlucent's standards then it will be pushed back to draft with an email from the editor moderating the case outlining the improvements that need to be made. Sometimes a case will be pushed back to draft multiple times. There is a steep learning curve to get the hang of image quality and the style guide!
